Our First Round of Venture Financing

Cambridge, MA, March 1, 2000 - Atlantis Components, Inc., the leader in anatomically-correct, computer-generated products for the dental implant market, announced today that it closed a venture round of financing with the Massachusetts Technology Development Corporation and a group of private investors. Atlantis, located in Kendall Square, Cambridge, has previously raised two rounds of financing from individual investors in addition to a line of credit with Brown Brothers Harriman and Company.

Thomas Cole, President, said, "I am very pleased that MTDC has the vision to invest in Atlantis and believes in our goal of becoming the world leader in custom restorative dentistry. The MTDC team has impressed me in their willingness to learn the dental market and has already made significant contributions to Atlantis. The Atlantis Permanent Healing Abutment is the only restorative implant component that is 100% customized using a state-of-the-art CAD/CAM process. This allows any dentist to easily turn a dental implant into an esthetically-pleasing restored tooth. With the backing of MTDC and our other financial partners, we can accelerate our goal of expanding the implant market to a larger portion of the $15 billion restorative dental marketplace."

MTDC and the private individuals invested a total of $1 million in the round. The private investor group included prominent dentists, surgeons and professional investors.

Atlantis Components was founded in 1996 by a Boston prosthodontist to develop innovative products and procedures for simplifying and improving implant dentistry. People are increasingly turning to their dentists to deliver healthy and youthful smiles and the ability to chew with confidence. Dental implants are often the best choice for permanently replacing missing teeth, but most products available today are technically complex, challenging to use and require several visits to the dentist before the replacement tooth is secured.
